From the Founder

When I returned to Kerala after several years abroad, I wasn’t looking to build just another soap brand. I wanted to create something rooted in the land I call home—something inspired by Kerala’s natural wisdom and built on honesty.

Working alongside Ayurvedic practitioners and studying the power of botanical ingredients, I realized that many personal care products had moved away from what truly matters. Too much attention was given to artificial colours, fragrances, and marketing, while ingredient transparency and genuine cleansing were often overlooked.

That inspired the creation of Origin in 2006. Our very first black herbal soap wasn’t designed to stand out because of its appearance—it was created to deliver authentic, nature-inspired care using carefully selected ingredients.

From a small shed with just a handful of people to a trusted brand reaching customers across India and beyond, our purpose has remained unchanged: to create honest products inspired by Kerala’s natural heritage.

Everything is handmade at our workshop in Kozhikode, Kerala. We work with a local women’s community mission, blending traditional craft with natural ingredients from our own land.

Absolutely. We never test on animals at any stage. Our products are only tested on willing humans who love clean, kind personal care. You can use them with a clear conscience.

What makes handmade different?

Handmade means small batches, personal attention, and no mass-production shortcuts. You get a product that retains natural goodness, feels richer, and is gentler on your body and the earth.

We follow strict traditional recipes, use fresh cold-pressed oils, and carefully cure every batch. Each piece is checked by hand so that only the best reaches you every single time.
